The stabilization / solidification and inertization process of the waste allows to incorporate the polluting substances inside a solid cement-like matrix through chemical-physical processes.
Depending on the type of pollutants, powdered reagents based on silico-aluminate cements, pozzolanic materials, lime or clay minerals can be used. These products can be used alone or in combination with other liquid reagents to selectively sequester contaminants and thus reduce the hazard of the original material by downgrading the waste toxicity.
The most suitable materials to be treated with the solidification / stabilization and inertization process are generally sludges, solid or liquid matrices deriving from specific industrial processes or from environmental remediation or dredging treatments.
